Sagest present at the “Eni Safety Award 2019” event.

Starting in 2013, Eni Safety Awards, an award for Eni’s virtuous behaviors in safety and environmental protection, are presented during Safety day, specifically:

  • the industrial entities in each business unit that have achieved the best results in the field of safety;
  • the special and innovative projects that have made it possible to combine the operational efficiency of industrial processes with safety in the performance of activities and the timely ability to intervene, even in complex contexts;
  • suppliers belonging to the most critical commodity classes as HSE risk profile, which achieved the best safety results.

This year the 3rd Eni “Safety & Environment Day” was held on June 5 in San Donato Milanese, a full day to illustrate results and objectives and to highlight the continuous dedication andcommitment of all Eni people to safety and environmental protection. During the event, awards were presented to the industrial entities of the Business Lines that achieved the best results in both safety andenvironment, according to 2 award categories:

  • Performance,” which rewards those entities that have distinguished themselves by Line of Business, based on their achievements during the past year in both safety and environment. This year we wanted to give a single award on the basis of the combined performance of the key indicators in safety and the environment to further emphasize Eni’s commitment to both of these aspects that are fundamental to the very sustainability of our activities.
  • Initiatives and Projects,” which enhances good practices in safety and environmental management, their innovative approach and replicability in other Eni entities. This year special focus was devoted to the following issues:
    • Initiatives and projects to support operators and local communities with positive impacts in the HSE field
    • Innovative projects based on the principles of the circular economy
    • Process safety optimization initiatives and projects.

Eni Safety Award 2019

On June 20, the Eni Safety Award 2019 was held, the day dedicated to Contractors, a special awareness-raising moment during which awards were given to the suppliers who, operating in the commodity classes considered most critical in terms of safety, achieved the best performance. Sagest was also present, a demonstration of the commitment and dedication shown in the field of occupational safety being now 6 years that Sagest has been working with Eni in the Viggiano Oil Center.

Sagest is ISO 9001 certified in occupational health and safety

UNI ISO 9001: the target audience, benefits, possible additions, and suggestions for implementing it in the workplace

As defined by the World Health Organization, “occupational health covers all aspects of health and safety in the workplace and has a high focus on the primary prevention of hazards.” Health has been defined as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, not limited to the mere absence of disease or infirmity.” Occupational health is a multidisciplinary field of health care concerning the individual’s ability to engage in his or her occupation in the manner that causes the least harm to his or her health. Health has been defined with a broader meaning than the common promotion of occupational health and safety, which is focused on preventing harm from any accidental hazards present in the workplace.

Occupational health and safety are primary interests for most companies;

despite countless initiatives, resonance in the media, and continuous measures, Inail has recorded as many as 417,000 (approximately) occupational accidents (2017 data), of which 617 resulted in fatalities.

ISO 9001 is the first international occupational health and safety standard, emphasizing potential benefits from reducing injuries to ‘increasing productivity.

Thus, UNI is intended to enable organizations to set up safe and healthy workplaces, preventing work-related injuries and illnesses; it is applicable to any organization, regardless of size, industry and nature of its activities, in order to:

  • Establish, implement and maintain a management system to improve occupational health and safety
  • Eliminate hazards and minimize occupational health and safety risks (including system deficiencies)
  • Seize opportunities for occupational health and safety and take charge of occupational health and safety management system nonconformities associated with its activities
  • Facilitate the organization in achieving the expected results of its occupational health and safety management system

The standard was developed with input from experts from more than 70 countries and is designed to be integrated into existing management processes (such as UNI EN ISO 9001, quality management, and UNI EN ISO 9001, environmental management).

The law requires the company to take all safety measures to avoid health risks to workers while they are engaged in the workplace. The prevention system includes a phase in which the risks to which employees are exposed are assessed, a phase in which the necessary safety systems are identified and installed, and a phase in which workers are informed and trained in the proper use of these tools.

Preventive actions, therefore, must adapt to the individual realities in which they are going to operate, involving workers in the process. For this reason, the regulations provide for three fundamental moments. In the first (the so-called “risk assessment“) the company identifies the risks to which workers are exposed. In the second, the safety measures deemed most appropriate to eliminate or otherwise contain the risks are adopted. In the third, workers are informed of the risks to which they are exposed and given appropriate training in the use of safety systems.
